The European Commission has launched the Digital Product Passport (DPP) Registry, as implementation of the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) progresses.

Digital Product Passports are being introduced progressively across different product groups and pieces of EU legislation, including certain batteries, construction products, toys, detergents and end-user surfactants.

The first significant implementation deadline will apply from 18 February 2027, when Digital Product Passports become mandatory for certain categories of batteries placed on the EU market.

Businesses operating in sectors expected to be subject to DPP requirements should therefore continue to monitor the applicable sector-specific requirements and consider the product and supply-chain data that may need to be collected, maintained and made accessible.

Further information, including access to the Registry, testing environment and supporting resources, is available through the European Commission’s Digital Product Passport website.
